Business Overview
Rakuten Group's core philosophy is to "empower people and society through innovation." With over 70 diverse services—including e-commerce, online banking, media, and professional sports—we serve more than 100 million customers in Japan and 1.6 billion globally, enriching various aspects of daily life. Our "Rakuten Ecosystem" connects customers and services seamlessly, creating a strong, integrated business model.

As part of Rakuten Group's FinTech division, Rakuten Payment, Inc. and Rakuten Edy, Inc. focus on settlement services like Rakuten Pay, Rakuten Edy, and Point Partner Business, alongside marketing solutions.

Our vision is to "create a world where anyone can enjoy the same value, no matter where they are," powered by technology. As society's digital landscape grows, we aim to bridge the gap between the online and real world, enabling everyone to lead safer, more secure, and comfortable lives.

To achieve this, we are committed to addressing real-world challenges and advancing together toward a better future.

-Department Overview
With the strength of the Rakuten Point market, surpassing 3 trillion yen in total issuance, we are driving the "Rakuten Economic Circle" through collaboration with Rakuten Group services and the rapid growth of cashless payment solutions in stores.

Our payment services are accepted at around 5 million locations nationwide, including supermarkets, convenience stores, and shopping malls, as well as 1 million traffic-related e-money locations, with coverage continuing to expand.

The Pay System Development Department oversees everything from payment system planning, UI/UX design, system architecture, coding, testing, to operations. As our services grow, you'll work on large-scale system development and operations, gaining valuable experience.

This role involves leading the development of Rakuten Cash, an electronic money service integrated into platforms like Rakuten Pay App and Rakuten Ichiba. You'll tackle challenges like service performance, quality requirements, large-scale data handling, and complex financial business logic, making it a great opportunity to grow as an application engineer.

You'll also collaborate with business and planning teams from the early stages of projects, shaping services and improving them based on customer feedback.
