The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or Bioanalytical Chemistry, possess business-level Japanese proficiency, and demonstrate a problem-solving and business development mindset.
Although the primary responsibility is technical consultation and market development, the role also involves identifying customer needs and providing tailored solutions, which may include sales-oriented interactions. The successful candidate will support business growth by helping customers select and optimize analytical solutions, contributing to both technical and commercial success.
【Position Summary】
Business Development Specialist for Analytical Consumables will play a key role in guiding customers through the selection and optimization of sample preparation solutions. The focus is on technical expertise, application support, and market development, while also engaging in some business-oriented activities to strengthen customer relationships and drive market expansion.
【Key Responsibilities】
1. Technical Consultation and Product Expertise
•Serve as a technical advisor, providing guidance on sample preparation techniques and analytical methodologies.
•Offer support in method development and optimization for customers in pharmaceutical, biotech, chemical, food & environmental testing, and CROs
•Conduct product demonstrations, training sessions, and application-based discussions with customers.
•Collaborate with product managers to troubleshoot and improve analytical workflows.
•Support customers in selecting the best solutions for their needs, contributing to sales-related discussions when necessary.
2. Market and Business Development
•Conduct in-depth market research to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics.
•Collaborate with customers and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to develop methods suitable for various applications utilizing Biotage products.
•Work with the marketing team to develop scientific content, including application notes, white papers, and webinars.
•Provide actionable market intelligence to internal teams to inform product development and marketing initiatives.
•Attend scientific conferences and workshops to stay updated on industry developments and represent the company’s expertise.
3. Customer Engagement and Sales activities
•Build strong relationships with key customers by providing ongoing technical and business support.
•Identify and develop new business opportunities through customer interactions and technical discussions.
•Develop customer-specific strategies, ensuring technical solutions align with business objectives.
•Contribute to overall sales success through technical expertise and consultative selling.
4. Cross-functional Collaboration
•Work closely with the Analytical system sales team, application specialists, technical support, marketing, and logistics teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
•Participate in cross-functional project teams to drive product launches and strategic initiatives.
5. Performance Management and Reporting
•Monitor and report sales performance, including key account metrics, revenue growth, and sales forecasts.
•Prepare and deliver regular sales updates and business reviews to the sales director.
